930: Shawn Fitzgerald

Child Sexual Abuse Material

Shawn Fitzgerald was the youth director at First United Methodist Church. He also was a high school teacher and soccer coach. A tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children led investigators to him. They got a search warrant and arrested him when they found many images of child sexual abuse, including sexual abuse of infants. He was charged with over 400 counts of possessing CSAM.

912: Ryan Scott Walsh

Child Indecency, Sexual Battery, Solicitation of a Minor

Ryan Scott Walsh was a youth pastor at Gulf Breeze Methodist Church in Florida. Parents of a 13-year-old girl found inappropriate texts on her phone. They went to the church pastor who chose to handle it internally at first, until the church learned Walsh had also touched the child. Then the church went to the police.

754: David G. Landfair

Improper Conduct or Comments

David G. Landfair was the Mayor of Gulf Breeze, Florida. Before that he was on the City Council for eight years. In 2019, an adult woman went back to her high school and told the Principal that a teacher whom she knew from high school was sending her messages on Seeking Arrangements, a website that specializes in older men finding younger women, a sugar daddy/sugar baby site. They began an investigation and found he was doing this on school time which resulted in discipline. They said he no longer worked there.

730: Alejandro Carmona-Fonseca

Child Indecency, Solicitation of a Minor

Alejandro Carmona-Fonseca was a deputy on the Jacksonville Sheriff’s office. A teen boy met Carmona at a gym and connected with him on Snapchat in the expectation that Carmona would give him workout advice, which he initially did. He began requesting photos of the teen without his shirt and then he began sending explicit pictures of himself.

728: Paul Mumford

Child Sexual Abuse Material

Paul Mumford was a retired Tampa police officer, though he remained a Reserve Officer. He was arrested in 2022 for possession of more than a hundred items of CSAM (Child Sexual Abuse Material.) He was fired as a Reserve Officer after his arrest. Ironically, he worked on the sex crimes unit.

727: Jeff Ford

Sexual Misconduct

Jeff Ford was a teacher when he had a sexual relationship with a student. The student was of age, but the relationship remains an abuse of power and teachers having sexual connections with students is unethical.

Since then, he founded a nonprofit called Man Up and Go which is attempting to reduce fatherlessness through their “Authentic Masculinity Program, which equips men both internationally and domestically to be protectors of and providers for their families.” This has let to his role on Governor DeSantis’ Florida Faith-Based and Community-Based Advisory Council.

725: Jose “Pepe” Diaz

Sexual Harassment

Jose “Pepe” Diaz was the mayor of Sweetwater, Florida before serving twenty years on the county commissioner. He has termed out and announced in February 2023 that he will run for Sweetwater mayor again. He was sued by a city employee who claimed he made inappropriate sexual comments including suggesting she shake her hips at a business meeting. After she filed a complaint, he fired her.

699: Bernie Alimenti

Coercion

Bernie Alimenti was a city councilman in Fort Myers, Florida. He offered to help a woman move from one public housing apartment to another in exchange for sex. She was an informant and the conversation was taped. He was arrested and charged with influence-peddling for sex. Prosecutors asked for a year in prison, but the judge gave him five years probation and community service.
