Daniel Perry is the murderer whom Texas Governor Greg Abbott has turned into a cause célèbre by vowing to pardon him as soon as he is sentenced. Daniel Perry murdered Garrett Foster. Perry is white and has openly claimed he is racist. Foster was also white and was protesting in support of Black Lives Matter. He was carrying him AK-47 which was perfectly legal in Open-Carry Texas, but here two NRA-backed laws came into conflict. Stand Your Ground vs. Open Carry.
Perry’s Stand Your Ground defense failed. He was convicted, but before he was even sentenced Abbott announced his intent to pardon him. Before the shooting, he posted on social media his intent to go to Dallas and “to shoot looters.” His social media is full of racist memes and statements. Prior to going to Dallas to shoot people, he actually did research on what he could get away with.
He’s also a sexual predator who searched for “good chats to meet young girls” and exchanged sexual and inappropriate messages with a girl who said she was sixteen. And Governor Abbott pledged to pardon him.
