Mike Groene was a Nebraska state senator. A legislative aide filed a complaint that he had taken inappropriate pictures of her while in their state office. The photos were taken secretly and without her permission. She found the photos on his computer and saw he had mailed them to other people with sexual captions. He resigned both from the senate and from his campaign for Nebraska University Board of Regents.
The Legislature hired an attorney names Tara Paulson to conduct an investigation and she concluded the conduct was unprofessional, but not illegal and, unbelievable, that it did not rise to harassment or discrimination. Incredible.
So of course, Groene issued a whining, self-pitying statement, “For the last two months, my name has been drug through the mud in a political witch hunt,” he said. “From the beginning, I did nothing unlawful. In no manner did I harass any employee.” Then he complained his privacy was invade.
