Jim Stewart III is a Kentucky state representative. In 2015, he was accused of sexual harassment. A woman on the legislative staff filed a complaint noting that she even changed her movement so she could avoid him and he would seek her out. He grew more insistent, trying to speak to her in public and calling her several times a day.
The complaint was hidden from the public record by the legislature and it took sever court cases to get it released. After they lost, the legislature passed a law exempting them from public records requirements. This secret agreement only came to light in a whistleblower suit. Stewart left office at the end of 2020.
