219: Rod Jetton

Rod Jetton

Rod Jetton was once Speaker of the House in Missouri. He seemed immune to criticism continuing to work as a political consultant to colleagues while serving as Speaker. However, brazen defiance of criticism does not work with the law. He was indicted for assault for hitting and choking a woman during sex. He pled guilty in a deal that avoided jail time.

Jetton was a controversial representative throughout his service, accused of conflicts of interest, pay to play, and other ethics violations. He was under FBI investigation when he resigned.

Update: Jetton was just hired as chief of staff to the current Speaker Dean Plocher who is caught up in a corruption scandal that has his fellow Republicans demanding his resignation. So far, Plocher refuses to resign. Hiring Jetton is simply a declaration that Plocher is shameless and has no interest in behavioral standards.
