Jon Bramnick is a Republican senator in the New Jersey state Senate. Before that he served in the New Jersey House of Representatives. He is also a lawyer and his law firm, Bramnick Law, advertises that it will defend those accused of sexual crimes by discrediting the victims. Everyone deserves a zealous defense, everyone, even rapists and child molesters. But, advertising from the outset that you will investigate and discredit accusers is something else.
From his website: “We know, unfortunately, people accuse others of these types of crimes because of hurt feelings, or in anger over breaking up or even confusion over what actually happened,” Bramnick’s law firm says. “Maybe you, as the one charged, may have believed the sexual act was consensual. Maybe you were unknowingly drugged and did not have the capacity to control your behavior, let alone to form a criminal intent.”

The current website does not explicitly advertise its willingness to discredit accusers. It’s normal for defense attorneys to look for ways to discredit allegations, but it’s not normal to promote the idea that it’s common for victims to make false allegations. In fact, it is more likely that women not report an assault than for one to make a false claim.
