Jim Duran is the District 6 City Councilmember in Ventura, California. He is also the lead pastor at The River Community Church in Ventura. He and his wife, Pamela, are being sued for covering up his son’s sexual abuse of her, beginning when she was fourteen.
His son, James Duran II, was a youth group leader for the church and has pleaded guilty to abusing her when she was sixteen, although the sexual abuse began two years earlier. She claimed Pamela Duran chastised her and made her think it was her fault.
Police listened to a phone call between Jane Doe and her abuser where he confirmed to her than the church was full of rumors about them having sex and also arranged for a sexual rendezvous.
