Matt Innis is the Chair of the Lancaster County Reupublican Party of Nebraska. In October, 2023, a judge granted a protection order to his wife who claims Innis had stalked, verbally abused, and sexually assaulted her.
According to court records, she got an exclusion order in March 2023. He was prohibited from entering her home without permission. She alleged that he has shown up at her home multiple time and found him in her home three times. Inside her home, he refused to leave and verbally abused her.
When she called the Sheriff, he said he couldn’t do anything about it. An exclusion order, being a civil order, therefore not criminal. Violating a protection order, on the other hand, is criminal.
“I have every reason to believe that he will kill me,” she wrote in the petition.
Innis has demonstrated an abusive temperament before, getting arrested after a scuffle at the Republican Convention in 2022. He was told not to come because he was running a write-in campaign for Senate.
