Anthony Silva was elected mayor of Stockton, California, in 2012. From 2004 to 2008, he was on the school board for Stockton Unified School District. Stockton’s local elections are nonpartisan but local media identify him as a Republican. In 2015, the FBI confiscated his phone in an investigation into financial improprieties. They discovered a video made at a youth camp Silva used to run. He was providing alcohol and playing strip poker with minors. They let the local police know and eventually the police arrested him.
He was charged with four felonies, including recording confidential information, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and providing alcohol to a minor. Later they were reduced to misdemeanors. In a plea deal, he pled guilty to providing alcohol to a minor and the other charges were dropped. He was ordered to provide 40 hours of community service.
Allegedly he did something similar in 2005, secretly recording minor girls changing clothes where he was a water polo coach. No charges were filed. In 2011, a woman accused him of sexual assault. He said she was a disgruntled employee. No charges were filed. In 2014, he was handcuffed by police after an altercation when he made an unwelcome advance on a woman. No charges were filed, though the driver filed a civil suit against everybody in the vehicle.
He had two guns stolen in separate thefts. The first was used in a murder, the second in a drive-by.
