Stephen Bates, until recently, was the pastor of the Bible Baptist Church. In that position, he endorsed Ted Cruz in 2015. According to investigators, he used the computer at that church parsonage to look at child pornography. When they arrested him, he was carrying two USB drives with child porn, videos portraying sex acts with children as young as thirteen. Multiple additional devices were collected from his home and will be examined. He was interviewed in 2017 and yet continued to collect porn. To help in the search, investigators brought in Nico, a dog trained to find electronic devices!!!
Based on the aforementioned information it was believed multiple accounts, all belonging to Pastor Bates, have been involved in the possession, distribution and manufacturing of child sexual abuse material since 2016,” the affidavit states.
