Gary Joseph Hawkins is a Utah firefighter. He is on administrative leave. He was caught in an undercover child exploitation sting, arrested, and is being held without bail due to his position of trust in the community posing a risk and to his possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material of children he knows.
According to an arrest report, Hawkins contacted an FBI investigator who pose as a mom with a nine-year-old. He sent a picture of his face making it easy for investigators to identify him from his driver’s license photo.
He asked for nude photos of the child. He described what he wanted to do in disturbing detail. According to the report, he wanted to “create an incest family.”
He sent several pictures of child sexual exploitation. He admitted that he had nearly been caught with Child Sexual Abuse Material of children he knew or was in a position of trust over. He also sent a pic of a friend’s daughter that he took from her phone. He was arrested in January 2024. An officer said that while in the back of the police car, he texted his adult son with what seemed to be instructions to destroy evidence.
