John Kyle B. Dizon was a SUNY and Newburgh city police officer. He was arrested in early June, accused of raping a child.
The police moved fast. The rape was reported on June 1st. He was arrested on Friday, June 9th, and fired on Monday. Sometimes these investigations take months. /Even his union denounced him, though reminding everyone that he must be presumed innocent until proven guilty.
“The City of Newburgh PBA is outraged when anyone engages in the type of conduct alleged. We stand in solidarity with the victim of this crime. We find it particularly offensive if done by a member of law enforcement who took an oath to serve and protect the public,” the release read, further noting that the PBA is mindful that police officers, like all citizens, are entitled to due process and are innocent until proven guilty.

Dizon was charged with Predatory Sexual Assault Against a Child, Criminal Sexual Act in the First Degree, Rape in the First Degree and Sexual Abuse in the First Degree. He is held without bail.
