Christopher J. Ballard was a teacher at Journey Academy, a Christian school in Centennial, Colorado. He was arrested in early March 2024 after the director of the Academy went to police alleging a child was sexually assaulted on May 2nd, that children were forced to watch Child Sexual Abuse Material, and that children were forced to run naked as punishment.
Ballard was charged with several felonies:
- One count of sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust (Class 3 felony)
- Three counts of sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust, pattern (Class 3 felony)
- Five counts of sexual exploitation of a child (Class 3 felony)
- Nine counts of unlawful sexual contact (Class 4 felony)
- Four counts of obscenity (Class 6 felony)
A parent spoke to Ballard who admitted to sexually abusing children and making them watch Child Sexual Abuse Material. He said his actions had been “plaguing him for years” but he never sought help out of shame.
