Charles Wadlington is a professor at Abilene Christian University. He remains listed as a member of the faculty as of June 2023. His adopted children came forward alleging sexual abuse.
In March 2023, one of the three children came to the police telling them that she and her sister were sexually assaulted by their father. She said her brother may also have been harmed. Police interviewed the brother who described what sounds like a sexual assault. He said plainly that Wadlington raped his sisters and that is why one ran away.
CPS interviewed the girls, one of whom said that he has sexually abused her many times, including once at work, at his ACU office. The other sister said he sexually abused her since she was 13 until she ran away from home when she was 15. She said that she knew he abused her sister and that is why she came forward. She also said that she went to Mrs. Wadlington for help who told her to think what would happen to all the children if she spoke up.
