Brian Ellis was at a bar in 2015, a woman had a fall. Ellis was acquainted with her and offered to take her home, but she alleges he took her to his home. The woman was not voluntarily intoxicated, but she was incapacitated. She thinks she was drugged. She sought medical attention the next day, with a concussion and other injuries. She believes she was raped as she was incapable of consenting while incapacitated. She filed a complaint. Ellis denied her allegations, but resigned under pressure. A grand jury declined to indict.

John Anthony was a former Republican Illinois state representative. He served three years before resigning to take a $10k/month job at the Illinois Department of Corrections. He worked there just a few months as he was fired after a staff party where he groped and assaulted several women. One of the incidents was caught on video. He was fired.

346: Samuel Pimm

Samuel Pimm is a Republican Party consultant. According to his Linked-In profile, he specializes in primaries targeting RINOs (mainstream Republicans.) On a flight to London, he was seated next to a woman whom he groped while he thought she was sleeping. She was trying to sleep using a sleep mask and felt him touching her arm and bread, then stroking her thigh. She pretended to wake up and got out of her seat. She asked the crew if she could change seats, explaining the situation. He was arrested upon arrival. He was also charged with obstruction because he washed his hands when the police arrested him, dipping his hand into his waterglass thirteen times. He was found guilty.

C. John McCloskey is a Catholic priest of Opus Dei, the controversial Catholic organization, who was a sort of celebrity converter. He was known for converting several prominent conservative politicians to Catholicism including Newt Gingrich, Sam Brownback, Bob Novak, Larry Kudlow, and Bernard Nathanson, a co-founder of NARAL who became an anti-choice activist. In 2005, Opus Dei paid a $977,000 settlement to a woman who claimed he groped her several times in 2002 when she sought help for marital issues and depression.

344: Rod Hamilton

Rod Hamilton is a state representative in Minnesota. He is retiring this year. In 2018, he was accused by a young woman of sexual misconduct, unwanted and nonconsensual touching and kissing. He had been much admired by her because of his advocacy for survivors of sexual assault. She is a sexual assault advocate. When there was a snowstorm that made it impossible for her to drive the more than 200 miles home, he offered to let her stay at his apartment and there he kissed her and touched her even though she had previously told him as a rape survivor that she did not like to be touched. She felt trapped and assaulted, though she makes clear that the misconduct was limited to touching and kissing.

John Moore chaired the State House Education Committee in the Mississippi House when he suddenly resigned for health concerns. However, the Speaker said he was facing sexual harassment allegations from several women. Moore’s resignation ended the House investigation into the allegations. The House no longer has jurisdiction and if the women want to pursue resolution, they would have to file a lawsuit.

341: Tom Schedler

Tom Schedler was the Louisiana Secretary of State. In 2018, he was sued for sexual harassment by his subordinate. He sent her several suggestive emails and cards and she claims he retaliated when she rebuffed him. He claims he had a consensual sexual relationship with her, but she denies it. He tried to tough it out, refusing to resign, and promising not to run for re-election, but eventually gave into public outrage and resigned.

340: Bill Dix

Organizational Cover-Up

Bill Dix was Majority Leader of the Iowa Senate when Kirsten Anderson was awarded $2.2 million in a sexual harassment suit. She settled for $1.75 million. When he announced the settlement he continued to insist she was fired for poor performance despite her being fired seven hours after she sent a memo detailing harassment in the office. He said he believed her allegations as well. Several Iowa politicians plus staff were revealed in testimony to have sexually harassed or been inappropriate with women in the office.

339: Clint Reed

Sexual Misconduct

Clint Reed was the Arkansas Republican Party director before he was hired by Sen. Mark Rubio as his Chief of Staff for sexual misconduct. Rubio was made aware of the misconduct, did an investigation with his general counsel, found there were some threats of withholding employment benefits and improper conduct between a supervisor and subordinates. Reed was fired the next day.
