Nicholas Elizondo, a board member of the Young Republican Federation, pleaded no contest to the charge of one count of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under fourteen. The child was his five-year-old step-daughter. That was in 1995. He served four of his six-year sentence before being released.
He then married and he and his wife had a child. When they divorced, he sued for sole custody and won. He moved away with his daughter and his ex-wife followed and then sued for custody again,. He again won custody. The judge thought his being a registered sex offender “put a target on his back.”
