James Ricky Carter was a Hart County, Georgia, Commissioner. But then he was arrested with his son after an altercation at a family gathering. His son beat a 61-year-old family member who was hospitalized with serious injuries. The victim’s grandchildren were witnesses. Carter was charged with making terroristic threats and acts and point a gun at someone. His son was charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, terroristic threats and acts, and three charges of cruelty to children in the third degree. Additional charges were added, including cruelty to children charges to Commissioner Carter.
