John Allen Burt was an anti-abortion activist who ran “Our Father’s House” that began as a shelter for unwed mothers but evolved into a boarding school for troubled teenage girls. He was convicted of molesting a fifteen-year-old girl in his care and sentenced to eighteen years in prison, where he died.
What is infuriating about the case is that other girls had filed police reports in the past but nothing was done, claiming there was no evidence. The police tried to ignore this child as well, but she had a note from Burt to back up her claim.
