Ryan Samsel is an insurrectionist. He is accused of assaulting several officers during the insurrection and leaving one of them with a concussion. He has a long history of domestic violence and sexual assault. In fact, at the time he was attacking Capitol Police, there was a warrant for his arrest for alleged breaking into a woman’s home to assault her. He was also on parole for his brutal attack on his pregnant girlfriend and witness intimidation.
Here are some of his crimes listed in the DOJ’s argument opposing bail:
- He ran a woman off the road and threatened to kill her.
- Knocked a man’s teeth out.
- Convict of choking a woman to unconsciousness and beating her so badly she chipped a tooth.
- Threw hot pizza at his pregnant girlfriend, shoved her in a canal and held her under the water repeatedly.
- Choking another woman and hitting her hard enough in the head to cause a hematoma.
- Breaking into another woman’s home and raping her. Choked her to unconsciousness. She got a restraining order which he violated multiple times.
