Aaron von Ehlinger was an Idaho Republican State Representative. He was accused of rape by a nineteen-year-old intern and eventually convicted. Before this happened, another lawmaker had warned him to be careful in his behavior as a couple women had made information complaints about making them uncomfortable.
He denied the allegation and he and several allies attacked the woman as a liar and naming her, leading to threats and intimidation against her. After a three-day trial, the jury found him guilty and he was sentenced to twenty years. He will be eligible for parole in 2030 (eight years) but could possibly serve all twenty.
