Paul Ingram was the Republican Party Chairman in Thurston County, Washington. He was also the Chief Civilian Deputy of the sheriff’s department. He was accused of rape by his two daughters and his son. He confessed and was sentenced to twenty years.
This is a strange and problematic case. His confession included talk of satanic rituals and murdering babies. It may have been a false memory confession though when he appealed claiming his confession was coerced, the judge said there was no evidence of coercion. In a pardons hearing, the stories he wrote in prison about raping his daughters kept them from releasing him.
There were over-zealous satanic panic prosecutions. This could be that or it could be the initial true crime, the nugget of truth that grows into a mess.
