John Gallman was a Republican primary candidate for South Carolina’s state senate. He was accused of domestic violence. He lost the primary. He sued his primary opponent and a local paper for defamation. The case has not been adjudicated yet.
Court documents from Gallman’s divorce and custody battle contain multiple allegations of physical and emotional abuse from his ex-wife and daughter, as well as accusations that he is controlling and easily angered. The allegations are noted in affidavits, a guardian ad litem report, forensic interview notes and police reports. – My Horry News
In a press conference, an astonishing number of people spoke up about his anger and inappropriate public behavior. Hundreds of pages of court documents speak of abuse, anger, and stalking. His minor daughter told teachers that her father hit her mother. He is said to have broken his ex-wife’s finger. He lost custody and was ordered not to have contact with his children.
He disputes the allegations, but for example, he says he did not break her finger and gives a different explanation for how it was broken. A specialist doctor says his explanation does not fit the kind of break she had but her explanation, that he bent her finger back until it broke, does explain it.
