Robert Murray of Murray Energy was a huge Trump supporter. As the head of Murray Energy that was the largest privately-held coal company before its bankruptcy, he was a huge Trump supporter and helped shape Trump’s energy policy. He was accused by two women of sexual harassment in 2014 and settled with them. A third woman filed a suit against him in 2016. These women filed suit even though he had a vicious reputation for retaliating against anyone who spoke up about his activities. He died in 2020 of black lung disease.
One woman claimed he groped her, had her bring in a drink while he was wearing just his underwater, and had her pick up things from the floor on her hands and knees, including his kidney stone. John Oliver talks about the absence of coverage, thanks to Murray’s frequent lawsuits against the press.
