Donald Sanborn is a Catholic bishop who thinks women invite rape by how they dress. In a now-deleted post saved by the Wayback Machine, he complains that hems have gone higher and arms barer. He critiques the clothes of the 1920s and post-World War 2 clothing trends. He seems to long for a long lost past. In his own words, “Never in the history of women’s dress, up to about 1918, did women wear skirts above their ankles. It was considered immodest. Even in the eighteenth century, where the necklines were low, women covered their arms to at least three-quarter length, and wore skirts to their ankles. To show one’s bare arms or to wear a skirt higher than the ankles was a sign of a prostitute.”
In another deleted blog post saved by the Wayback Machine, he argued that because Kavanaugh is more important than Blasey Ford, he should be believed. His exact words, ” Moral law requires us, in that parity of contradictory testimony, to take the word of the superior, which in this case would be that of Judge Kavanaugh.” He admits the allegation could be true, but absolves Kavanaugh because he was young and drunk.
