Kenneth Lee was appointed by Donald Trump to the 9th Circuit. He was confirmed with a party line vote, in large part because of his extreme and intemperate writing about race, homosexuality, sexual harassment, and rape. He was dishonest with the Judiciary Committee, selectively holding back his controversial writing, an action that led to an Obama appointee not being confirmed. The Republicans looked past his dishonesty and confirmed him anyway.
In those writings, he called feminism irrelevant pouting and claimed that women would not continue to work if they were being harassed, so their allegations must be false. He denies statistics on rape as fraudulent with no evidence other than his gut feeling. Women’s claims and research are denied and denounced as fraudulent, though his only reason is his partisan opposition to women’s rights. Alliance for Justice, an organization that evaluates the fitness of judicial nominees opposed his confirmation.
