Bill Brough was a California Republican Assemblyman representing Orange County. He was asked by his party to retire and withdraw from 2020 re-election race because of sexual harassment and assault allegations as well as an ethics investigation for using campaign funds for personal use. He ran for re-election anyway. He came in fourth in the primary.
He was accused by at least six women of sexual harassment and sexual assault. A former legislative aide filed criminal charges of rape against him. The California Legislature’s Workplace Conduct Unit investigated the sexual assault allegations and found that he offered political favors for sex and confirmed at least one of the allegations of unwanted physical contact was true.
