Philip Giordano was the Mayor of Waterbury, CT and a one-time Republican Senate nominee and has since been convicted of raping children and sentenced to 37 years in prison. Just the headlines on the long series of stories about him at the New York Times will turn your stomach.
The FBI was investigating Giordano for corruption and heard him arranging for two 8 and 11-year-old girls to be brought to him for sex. One was the oldest sister of a boy he fathered with her sex-worker mother. They had to impede the corruption investigation to stop him from further predation on children.
