Jack Burkman is a conservative activist and lobbyist. He is one of the people who fostered the Seth Rich conspiracy theory. As head of American Decency, an anti-gay organization, he organized protests of the Dallas Cowboys for hiring a gay player on the practice team. He claimed falsely that he had been raided by the FBI. He downloaded a random porn image of a middle-aged white man engaging in sex with another man and claimed it was Adam Schiff. He was a piece of work, but then he partnered with Jacob Wohl.
With Wohl, he hired men and women to accuse different political targets of sexual assault and sexual harassment. He also partnered with Wohl in a voter suppression telecommunications fraud for which he pleaded guilty and is awaiting sentencing.
For example, they went around to gay Republicans looking for someone who would accuse Pete Buttigieg of rape. They found someone who was initially willing but backed out and recanted, explaining exactly how they worked and how they menaced him when he said he didn’t want to do it.
Perhaps Jacob Wohl and Jack Burkman think that the ends justifies the means, but they ignore than the consequence is harming all sexual assault survivors who will be less likely to be believed because they manufacture fake allegations.
