Joe Dan Dwyer was a popular, publicity-seeking “Law & Order” mayor of the small town of Reeds Spring, Missouri. He had been featured in the Sun-Sentinel and the New York Times for his larger-than-life grandiosity. But that was before two teen girls who were members of his family came forward with the allegation he abused them when they were 14 and 17. Despite his denials, he was convicted of seven counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault, three counts of criminal sexual assault, and two counts of battery. He was sentenced to seven years.
