Michael Medlin is a former sheriff’s deputy and school resource officer in Johnston County, North Carolina. Together with his wife, he groomed one of her students. He was terminated as a school resource officer for inappropriate relationships with students.
He was confronted with a photo of a student in his bed but denied knowing her.
He entered an Alford plea. That is a plea that says the state has enough evidence to convict him, but he doesn’t admit guilt. This plea deal resulted in the most serious charges offirst-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and sexual servitude of a child victim were dismissed against the couple. A charge of indecent liberties with a student was also dismissed against Michael Medlin.
