Bob Stine was the pastor of Midvale Baptist Church in Madison, Wisconsin. He is also a former president of the Minnesota and Wisconsin Baptist Association. He also ran a children’s “day camp” at the church.
Thanks to a sex education class, a child recognized that some things that had happened were wrong. She told her family about three incidents when she was nine. While she did not like it, she didn’t know how she should feel about it. She trusted him as he was an adult and a religious leader. In school, she learned about her boundaries. She said she thought it has been her fault.
She spoke about this with a friend who also went to day camp and her friend recounted similar activities. She told a school counselor who told her parents.
In 2021, three adults reported seeing him doing inappropriate things with a child at day camp. Stine denies all wrongdoing. He no longer works for Midvale Baptist Church, though they continued to employ him after the 2021 investigation. He was released on $5,000 bond.
He has a preliminary hearing on September 15.
