Scott Saunders, Jr. was the mayor of Smithville, Texas. He was arrested in June 2021 and charged with two counts of sexual assault of a minor and one count of indecency with a child. In July 2023, he pled guilty, though the judge declared he was not guilty of one of the sexual assault charges.
He was given a sentence of FIVE YEARS DEFERRED ADJUDICATION which means if he does not assault other children for five years, not only is his term of probation over, there will be no conviction on his record, cleaning his record of his sexual assault of a child.
