Matthew R. Reilly was a city councilman in Cranston, Rhode Island. He also was the local GOP party chair. He is the man who was arrested in May for smoking crack in his car and falling asleep. There’s a viral video of the cop’s bodycam recording of the arrest. He resigned as councilman and party chair.
June brought worse problems when he was arrested for child molestation involving a twelve-year-old girl. The child molestation investigation began a week before the drug arrest. He was charged with one count each of first-degree child molestation, second-degree child molestation, and enticement of a person under the age of 16. He is being held without bail.
