1083: Bart Jetton

Bart Jetton

Bart Jetton was the mayor of Reno, Texas. He resigned in 2021 after his wife called the police for help during a family dispute. At the time, the officer “resolved” the situation by getting the two of them to agree to separation. However, when it was investigated further, Jetton was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The details are limited because the crime involved a minor. Jetton pleaded guilty in September 2022 and was sentenced to five years probation.

His probation was revoked in May, 2023, and he resigned his mayoralty. He was charged with more crimes following the revoking of his parole. He threatened and harassed a former friend and tried to hire people to assault that friend. He threatened to kill a judge and assault his wife.
