Jared Woodfill was the Harris County GOP Chair for ten years from 2002 to 2012. He remained politically active and is partially credited with defeating an LGBTQ equal rights ordinance in Houston. Since 2004, he has known that Paul Pressler sexually abused a child when helped settle negotiate a settlement that kept it silenced without any criminal repercussions. Nonetheless, in 2016, he wrote “This 85-year-old man has never made any inappropriate comments or actions toward me or any one I know of.”
He continued to work with Woodfill as they were law firm partners. He assigned several young men to work as assistants to Woodfill after the settlement. Two of them allege sexual assault or misconduct. This admission is in a deposition for a law suit against Pressler, Woodfill, and religious organizations affiliated with Pressler alleging an organizational coverup. Woodfill in particular is accused of slander and libel against Gerald Rollins who was molested by Pressler and whom Woodfill claimed was just trying to extort Pressler.
