Matthew Joseph Elliott was supposedly destined for a great future in Republican politics. Some people thought he would be governor of Iowa one day. He was elected governor at Boys State and later the head of the Iowa College Republicans. He worked on Romney’s campaign, as a legislative aide, and then as ED of the Republican Legislative Majority Fund. Then he decided to challenge a Republican incumbent and within weeks, someone reported him to the police.
A Republican Party worker turned over Elliott’s work computer to the police. They arrested him and he pled guilty to child pornography charges. And then one thing led to another, drunk driving, assault charges, bail violations, and in the end, the murder of 7-month-old baby girl.
