Martin (Marty) Peterson was the Idaho State Budget Director with a long history in Republican political circles, working for Senator Frank Church, Governors Andrus and Evans. That may be why he got 90 days in jail and a ten-year suspended sentence despite pleading guilty to two counts of possessing child sexual abuse material. He admitted to looking at images of children ages 10 to 12 being sexually abused and tortured for years.

575: James Clendenin

Rape Culture

James Clendenin was a Republican member of the Wichita City Council when he conspired with Michael O’Donnell and Michael Capps to defame Brandon Whipple in order to keep him from winning the Wichita Mayor’s race. They failed which James Clendenin has proffered as a defense in his trial, suggesting that Whipple wasn’t defamed enough to lose. Yes, Clendenin is that craven.

574: Michael O’Donnell

Rape Culture

His entire history is full of scandal from “borrowing” a school bus and drinking while taking young people to a game and giving alcohol to minors to more serious allegations of bank fraud and wire fraud. He is on the list, though, for creating and spreading false allegations as they contribute to the rape culture lie that women frequently make false claims.

573: Scott Miller

Organizational Cover-Up, Sexual Harassment

Scott Miller was the chair of the Salt Lake County Republicans. When several women reported harassment and abuse by Dave Robinson, he ignored them. When the story became public, he sent an official email calling out the women for their “salacious accusations.” In the email, he wrote, “Are these persons and possibly their special interest backers attempting to embarrass and cancel me and our volunteers?” Miller wrote. “Are most of the accusers sore losers who failed to win their respective races? Is this an attempt to disrupt my efforts to become the Utah GOP Chairman?”

572: Dave Robinson

Sexual Harassment

Dave Robinson was Salt Lake County Republican Committee’s unofficial communications manager. He was also abusive and bullying, particularly toward women. Rape Culture

Bruce Bickford was a state representative in Maine, representing Auburn. He left office in December 2022. He seemed to think rape was a joking matter, logging into a House committee meeting with a Zoom background that said “Harvey Weinstein Charm School Rehab Center.” He was investigated whether or not doing so was sexual harassment.
