Mickey Conroy was a Republican Assemblyman from Orange County, California. He was best known for introducing a bill to paddle graffiti artists. His other claim to fame was the $386,240 award the state paid to Robin Boyd, an aide who sued him for sexual harassment. She claimed she was subjected to crude remarks and unwanted hugs and kisses.
Norman McAllister was a Vermont state senator who was accused of soliciting sex from women who worked for him or rented from him. One of the women who accused him died before trial, one of the women lied about testimony unrelated to her allegation, so the case centered on one remaining woman. First he pled guilty in a plea deal, but a judge allowed him to withdraw his plea. He was found guilty of improper acts and acquitted on two charges. The jury acquitted him of coercing sex but found him guilty of arranging for her to have sex with someone else to pay her electric bill.
His conviction was reversed, so he got a new trial that ended in a mistrial thanks to a juror watching a news story about the trial. In his fourth round, he was acquitted and is listed in the Exonerations database.
Paris Dennard was a conservative pundit for CNN until 2018 when it was revealed he had been fired at his previous job for sexual harassment, including gesturing as though unzipping his pants and masturbating. He was then hired by the RNC as a national spokesperson until he was fired in August 2022 for unknown reasons.
Kevin Garn was the House Majority Leader in the Utah legislature. In 1985, when he was 28, he took a fifteen-year-old girl who worked for him, his business partner’s daughter, to Salt Lake City and took her hot-tubbing. He got in the tub naked. He claims that is all that happened, but she said there was more to it and characterized it as sexual abuse and a long-term adult-child relationship.
Josh Duggar is one of the famed Duggar family who had a reality show on The Learning Channel called 19 Kids and Counting. Duggar also worked for the Family Research Council, a sanctimonious anti-gay organization. He molested five girls and his parents knew and covered it up, even though some of those he molested were his sisters. Even though he knew his own son was a molester, Jim Bob Duggar, his father, said “rape and incest represent heinous crimes and as such should be treated as capital crimes.”
John McGee was an Idaho state senator who was offered a choice between facing a states ethics panel or resigning after being accused of sexual harassment. He chose to resign.
He’s kind of a “and then there is more” sort of character. He was first elected to the state senate in 2004, winning the primary and thus the election since Democrats did not run a candidate in any of the elections. But things went awry. In 2011, he went to a golf tournament where he got really drunk, stole an SUV and cargo trailer from a complete stranger and in an accident, got it stuck in someone’s yard. His blood alcohol was .15, nearly twice the legal limit of .08. He pleaded guilty to misdemeanor DUI in a deal that got the vehicle theft charges dropped. He had 180 days jail sentence, with 175 days suspended.

J. E. “Buster” Brown was a Texas state senator. He served twenty-two years until his resignation in 2002. A young woman, Tiffany Black, worked for his office while a college student. She reported that during a mock golf lesson, he kissed and fondled her. She then resigned. Rather than pursue criminal charges, the D.A, negotiated an apology in the form of a public letter.
Gene Abdallah was a South Dakota state legislator. When he was nominated for the Board of Pardons and Paroles, a woman came forward alleging when he was a lawmaker and she was an ACLU lobbyist he asked if he could watch her pee. He denied it but withdrew his name from consideration.
Edward Southard was a SC state representative. He was accused of sexual harassment by a female page. He claims it was all because he asked for help with making a Power Point presentation. But another woman accused him of making her uncomfortable and even following her in his pickup.
