Will Gardner was the Republican Party-endorsed candidate for North Dakota Secretary of State. He withdrew from the race after news surfaced of his arrest when he was 29 years old. He was cited for surreptitious intrusion – a sexual offense, but that was dropped to disorderly conduct in a plea deal.

He also won despite two fellow Republican women coming forward to allege sexual misconduct by Morales including forcible kissing. Both women went to Republican Party leadership hoping to deal with it privately to protect the party’s reputation, but the leaders did nothing which is why they went public.

Tom Schedler was the Louisiana Secretary of State. In 2018, he was sued for sexual harassment by his subordinate. He sent her several suggestive emails and cards and she claims he retaliated when she rebuffed him. He claims he had a consensual sexual relationship with her, but she denies it. He tried to tough it out, refusing to resign, and promising not to run for re-election, but eventually gave into public outrage and resigned.
