Joel Sartori was Assistant Treasurer for Carl Paladino’s unsuccessful campaigns for governor and for the GOP nomination for Congress. Sartori was convicted in 2017 of both possessing and distributing child sex abuse material. Paladino has known and employed Sartori for years and knows of his conviction. Paladino said Sartori has paid his dues and deserves another chance.
I believe in second chances, too. And contrary to general belief, recidivism on people who possess, but do not produce, child sex abuse material is about the same as general recidivism, about 30%. However, six years is not that long a time. Has he reformed or just not gotten caught?
