739: Ed Bayne

Ed Bayne was the mayor of Seven Fields, Pennsylvania, since 2006 until he was arrested for possession child sexual abuse material. Police seized all the computers at his home and found 24 items of child sexual abuse material including a video with a 9-year-old girl. They were alerted to someone downloading CSAM and traced it to his home. No charges were filed when they seized his computers.

He resigned as mayor because he moved out of town.

Bayne pleaded guilty to one count of possession and was sentenced to seven years in prison plus ten years of supervised release.

Mayor of Seven Fields Resigns

Seven Fields Mayor Ed Bayne has submitted a resignation letter and has moved out of the borough, borough manager Tom Smith confirmed Saturday.

State police are investigating Mr. Bayne, but the borough has had no contact with investigators, said Mr. Smith. 

Mr. Bayne, first elected in 2007, wrote in the Aug 23 letter that he was moving out of the borough and enjoyed his public service, said Mr. Smith.
