Eddie Farnsworth was an Arizona state legislator and later state senator until his retirement in 2021. He is most well-known for his endless effort to protect marital rapists. For example, when a Democratic senator introduced a bill allowing severance of the parental rights of rapists he demanded an amendment to protect the rights of marital rapists.
“Today I made an extremely difficult decision: I pulled my bill SB 1355 that would allow a parent of a child conceived because of rape to terminate the parental rights of their rapist,” Steele said. “I was forced to pull my bill because the committee chairman held my bill hostage with the demand that I allow an amendment to exempt married victims who are raped by their spouses.” From Phoenix New Times
