Nick Hermann was the County Prosecutor in Vanderburgh County, Illinois until he lost the Republican primary in May 2022. A likely contribution to his loss was the sexual harassment and retaliation lawsuit brought against him that he settled. That and the $10,000 in controversial expenditures for lingerie and expensive lunches on his county credit card.
In May 2019, Samantha Merideth filed discrimination complaints with the state and county alleging that she was harassed at work after rejecting Hermann’s sexual advances at a professional conference. After that, she complained he harassed her at work and spread rumors about her and, ultimately, forced her to resign. The State and County did nothing so she filed a federal lawsuit. The County settled, paying $75,000 but not admitting wrongdoing.
