August (Augie) Wolf was a candidate for the Republican nomination to run for U.S. Senate in Connecticut in 2016. He was supported by David Koch. The campaign was not going well. By February the campaign had gone through three campaign managers and three treasurers and ten staff had been fired or resigned. In June, a former staffer accused him of sexual harassment as well as federal and state election laws. Samantha Menh alleged he made frequent sexual remarks and sexual advances.
Another former campaign staffer, Troy Meeker, claimed homophobia drove him to resign. In his resignation letter, he claimed he was quitting because of the hostile work environment, “What I am addressing is an attitude and an environment that has been commonplace on this campaign and, much to my disappointment, condoned and perpetuated by the boss,”
Wolf suspended his campaign and resigned from his job. He Menh for defamation, claiming she caused him to lose his Wall Street job but his case was dismissed. He also claimed the Republican convention was rigged.
