Glen Casada is a Tennessee state representative. He was Speaker of the House until 2019 when he resigned due to losing the confidence of his party after a few scandals and roughhouse tactics that cost him support. He was alleged to have crossed the ethical line in offering incentives to get legislators to change their votes on a key bill he wanted passed. He was on an email chain that was misogynistic and received sexist and racist text from his chief of staff, Cade Cothren whom he continued to employ. He was indicted for fraud in August, 2022, along with Cothren. He is not running for re-election.
However, he is on the list for his support for Rep. David Byrd, claiming the women who said they were assaulted by Byrd while they were in high school were not credible. He said this even though Byrd has not denied their allegations and apologized, though without admitting guilt.
According to Casada, if a woman were raped, she would move. After when asked if he claimed they were lying, he said he didn’t think they were lying, they just believed something that was untrue.
