John Childs
Childs owns J.W. Childs Associates, a private equity firm based in Massachusetts. A Republican, he’s a big donor to Republican candidates and lobbying organizations such as Club for Growth. So far this year, he’s given a little over $3.5 million to Republicans.
He was one of several influential, rich men who patronized a sex trafficking ring that imprisoned immigrant women, forcing them to live at massage parlors where they were forced to have unprotected sex with thousands of men, their compliance extorted with threats against their family back in their home country.
If the sex workers were working by choice, that would be one thing, but this was not the case. These women were raped daily by men whom the sheriff called “monsters.” From the New York Times, “I would never consider them prostitutes — it was really a rescue operation,” the sheriff said, training his anger at the men whose demand for sex kept the massage parlors in business. “The monsters are the men,” he added.”
Despite all their hard work. Charges were thrown out because a court decided that the video recordings were illegally obtained because they just constantly recorded activities in the spa, legal and illegal. The county did not want to appeal since the charges are misdemeanors even though, as the sheriff said, the men are the monsters.
