313: Devon Mathis

Devon Mathis is a Republican Assemblyman in California, representing a California Central Valley district. He has faced scrutiny a few times. He was accused of assaulting a woman but the Sacramento police were unable to substantiate the charges. The blogger who first broke the story claimed the police did not contact him and that the woman was not interviewed by the police.

At the same time, he was accused of creating a hostile workplace for women, including sexual harassment and what the investigators called “locker room talk.” He was censured by the California Assembly for that and required to take remedial training. After the allegations made by a resigning staff member went public, a former chief of staff who quit two years earlier sent a letter to the Assembly Rules committee with similar allegations and confirming the hostile work environment.

His former chief of staff sued for wrongful termination and retaliation for reporting his inappropriate behavior.

But what is locker room talk
