Ken Starr is most infamous as the sex-obsessed independent counsel who chose to include prurient sexual details in The Starr Report and in the Senate trial questioning of Monica Lewinsky. That is not why he is featured on this list even though his desire to humiliate and debase Lewinsky certainly displayed misogyny. However, it was in his role as the President of the largest Baptist school in America, Baylor University, where he earned complete ignominy by covering up the rapes of several women enrolled as students there. Protecting the football players was much more important than protecting women. It seems even today Baylor University would like to pretend it never happened.
One of the assailants called Ken his “Uncle Ken” and said they were bros. When a complaint was filed against him, it was dismissed the next day. The student graduated and was denied a security clearance because of sexual misconduct allegations but Ken Starr wrote a recommendation for him anyway. Baylor was accused of failing to report at least six rapes. When the allegations broke, more women came forward. The women also alleged the school not only covered up the rapes but threatened the women with violating the school’s pre-marital sex rules. He stepped down from the president post to chancellor and professor and then resigned.
He has since become a feature on FOX defending former President Trump. In addition to that, he was the lawyer who succeeded in getting Jeffrey Epstein that ridiculous plea deal in Florida. Now, sex traffickers and rapists deserve legal representation that is zealous and hardworking, but do they deserve politically connected lawyers who can leverage political connections to get uniquely favorable and highly suspicious plea deals such as the one that liberated Epstein to rape some more and got the prosecutor an appointment to the Dept of Labor?
For all his condemnation of Bill Clinton, Ken Starr has a long history of defending predators. He defended Jeffrey Epstein, Brett Kavanaugh, and Donald Trump. He protected the rapists at Baylor University. and advocated as a private citizen for community service for a VA child molester sentenced to 43 years for molesting 5 children.
For all his moralizing, Ken Starr had an affair with a former colleague. It’s amazing that this man with the pretense of piety has a lifetime of defending predators.
