The newest wave of unsealed court documents in connection with Jeffrey Epstein’s alleged sex-trafficking scheme includes a widely expected 2016 deposition from Virginia Roberts Giuffre.
In the testimony, Giuffre describes allegations of sexual abuse by Epstein, and identifies several people she claims were involved in trafficking her, including prominent Trump attorney Alan Dershowitz.
Dershowitz—one of the high-profile individuals Giuffre alleges had sex with her while she was being trafficked by Epstein—has repeatedly denied that he ever had sex with her. For years, he has sought the unsealing of documents related to the case, arguing in interviews that the records would show he had done nothing wrong.
On Tuesday, after the documents were released, Dershowitz told Business Insider that “the material that has come out is completely exculpatory of me,” adding, “I’m a complete victim of a total frame up.”
Giuffre’s allegations against Dershowitz
The newly unsealed deposition is tied to a defamation dispute involving Dershowitz and Giuffre’s attorneys, Paul Cassell and Brad Edwards. In 2015, Cassell and Edwards sued Dershowitz, arguing that he defamed them by claiming they knowingly pursued a case containing falsehoods about Dershowitz—or by failing to properly investigate Giuffre’s claims against him.
In the deposition, Giuffre alleges that she and Dershowitz were introduced while Epstein was trafficking her as a teenager. She says she and Dershowitz had sex on “at least six” occasions, and states she lost track of how many times she met the then-Harvard law professor.
“Professor Dershowitz was around a lot and there was always young girls around a lot,” Giuffre says in the deposition.
