1356: Bobby Cheshire

Bobby Cheshire

Bobby Cheshire, former Republican County Commissioner in Angelina County, Texas, has been sentenced to eighty years in prison after being found guilty of five counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child. He was already in prison, serving a four-year sentence for familial violence.

He remained the county commissioner until a judge removed him before the family violence sentencing. He is also facing trial for misuse of county funds, trying to sell county vehicles.

Several members of his family, ex-wives, and even his high school girlfriend testified as to his abuse and stalking behavior. In sentencing him, the judge said, “We did not hear one word of contrition, empathy, sorrow or apology,” Freyer said. “You can’t treat a sociopath. You can’t treat a monster. You can only incapacitate him.”

County Commissioner is often a nonpartisan position, but as you can see, he ran for the position as a Republican. He was unopposed in the Republican primary in 2017.
